The NL-2160 Lifecorder PLUS is an accurate and reliable downloadable accelerometer with 60 days of memory. On the display you'll find steps, steps target, activity time, activity time target, time of day and a "scrollable" activity intensity graph. More features--total calories, activity calories, activity calories
target and distance--can be displayed on the LCD of the Lifecorder PLUS
accelerometer, but enabling
these features requires the purchase of the Physical Activity Analysis
Software (PAAS) Lifestyle Coach (see software below).
Once data is downloaded via a USB connection to one's PC using the free Lifestyle Coach PAAS (Physical Activity Analysis Software), one can view steps in relationship to one's steps target, activity time in relationship to one's activity time target, activity calories in relationship to one's activity calories target, total calories (inclusive of BMR calories), distance (using a default stride length), one's weight and a pie chart showing the amount of light, moderate and vigorous activity.
Much more sophisticated than a pedometer, the Lifecorder PLUS accelerometer monitors the intensity and duration of a person’s activity. Once data is transmitted to the Lifecorder PLUS software, it is easy to spot patterns and trends in activity. Patterns of sedentary behavior become easy to target and change. In this way, the Lifecorder PLUS uses technology to encourage and motivate people to get up, get out, and get moving.
NL-2160 Lifecorder PLUS AccelerometerFeatures:
- Steps, active, distance (in miles or kilometers), MVPA (active) time, calories, total calories, time of day, activity intensity review graph (METS)

Software:
- Lifestyle Coach PAAS is for researchers, wellness coaches, and allied health professionals. It's offers display lock, memory loop or lock, database import/export, and many other powerful features. PAAS Lifestyle Coach is sold separately for $495. (Windows 2000/XP 32-bit & Windows Vista/7 32/64-bit compatible).
The NL-2200 Lifecorder EX accelerometer is an accurate and reliable
activity monitor. In addition to counting steps, it calculates the
calories expended, computes basal metabolic rate (BMR) and stores 200
days of data that can be extracted by health professionals responsible
for modifying client/patient physical activity behavior.
Much more sophisticated than a pedometer, the Lifecorder EX monitors the
intensity and duration of a person’s activity. Once data is transmitted
to the PAAS Lifestyle Coach, it is easy to spot patterns and trends in
activity. Patterns of sedentary behavior become easy to target and
change. In this way, the Lifecorder EX uses technology to encourage and
motivate people to get up, get out, and get active.
NL-2200 Lifecorder EX Accelerometer Features:
- 200 Day Downloadable Memory
- 7 Day Memory on Display
- 9 Intensity Zones
- Displays Steps, Kcals and % Goal
- Calculates BMR
- Direct USB Link to PC
- Event Marker Key
- Dimensions: 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 3/4"
- Weight: less than 2 ounces
- Battery operation; uses a CR2032 battery included
- Battery life: approximately 6 months
- Security strap included
Orders for 1 to 3 NL-2160 or NL-2200 activity monitors include 1 product manual per activity monitor. Orders for 4 or more NL-2160 or NL-2200 activity monitors include
1 product manual, but product manuals are available online at any time.

LC-1: How do I reset my LIFECORDER accelerometer?
You’ll find a small gray RESET button underneath the battery compartment cover. It will reset the LIFECORDER accelerometers and all of their internal memory. All settings and data will be lost. To perform the reset, use a ball- point pen or the end of a paper clip to press and hold the RESET button. The LIFECORDER EX will sound a long tone to signal that the reset is complete. The LIFECORDER PLUS will sound one long tone and display "RESET OK?" on the display (LCD). To execute the reset, press the RESET button once more. The LIFECORDER PLUS sounds a quick short, then long recognition tone.
LC-2: Where do I download the Personal software for the LIFECORDER PLUS?
Please refer to the invoice that shipped with your LIFECORDER PLUS accelerometer. Both the URL (web address) and the login information (ID and password) were provided on your invoice. If you’ve misplaced your invoice, email
NEW-LIFESTYLES, provide the name under which you ordered the device and request the information.
LC-3: I got my LIFECORDER wet. What should I do?
None of our pedometers or accelerometers are waterproof or
water-resistant. Water can damage your device permanently, but sometimes
one can survive an accidental drowning or trip through the washing
machine. First, remove the case cover or battery cover. Remove and
properly dispose of the battery. Replace the battery cover and place the
device inside a plastic bag with some (a 1/2 cup or so) white rice for a
day or so. The white rice will help to pull the moisture out of the
device. Don’t use a hairdryer as excessive heat may damage the
electronics. After the inside is dry install a new battery. If the
display shows numbers, you were lucky this time! If not, you’ll need to
purchase a new step counter, as water damage is not covered by the
warranty.
LC-4: What safety standards does the LIFECORDER fulfill?
Splash Proof: IEC60529 IPX2, JIS C920
Safety and Reliability: CE, JIS S-7200, EMS (VCCI Class II Device)
Static Electricity Resistance: IEC1000-4-2
LC-5: Is the LIFECORDER Physical Activity Analysis Software (PAAS) Lifestyle Coach Windows 7 compatible?
Yes, but it is not Windows 8 compatible.
LC-6: Is the LIFECORDER Physical Activity Analysis Software (PAAS) Lifestyle Coach MAC compatible?
No, it is not.
LC-7: What is the battery life of the LIFECORDER PLUS, and what type of battery does it use?
The battery life of the LIFECORDER PLUS is 2 months, and it uses the CR-2032 battery.
LC-8: What is the battery life of the LIFECORDER EX, and what type of battery does it use?
The battery life of the LIFECORDER EX is 6 months, and it uses the CR-2032 battery.
LC-9: Will I lose my data when I change the battery?
The LIFECORDER accelerometers store physical activity data into non-volatile memory every 30 minutes. When changing the battery, one can lose a maximum of 30 minutes of data.
LC-10: What information does the LIFECORDER store?
The LIFECORDER measures steps and intensity and uses this information to calculate energy expenditure. Every 4 second period, the LIFECORDER determines an ‘Activity Level’ which is determined using not only the number of steps but the accelerometric signal (physical intensity) as well. These 4 second Activity Levels, where 1-3 is light, 4-6 is moderate, and 7-9 is vigorous, are accumulated in the internal memory and can be downloaded and exported as a raw CSV file using the research version (P.A.A.S. Professional and P.A.A.S. Lifestyle Coach software packages)of the software.
Exported reports show the total number of 4 second bouts accumulated in each intensity category (0-9). The example below shows the intensity levels and the number of 4 second periods spent in each level (each row represents one day):

The LIFECORDER also stores the Activity Level computed in a two
minute epoch for each 24-hour day (time stamp is on the left column;
each of the four right columns represent a portion of a single day from
8:38pm to 9:06pm). A value of 0.5 represents 'micro activity' which is
movement that is not considered to be ambulatory.
